GeekFest 2008

Joining JetSet, Floodstock and others, GeekFest is the newest addition to the annual calendar of great T4G events.

Geekfest is equal parts trade-show, un-conference, science fair, democamp, and think tank; all with some friendly competition thrown in to keep things interesting.

The GeekFest goals are:

  • to ignite and fan the flames of innovation at T4G
  • to communicate to all T4G stakeholders our wealth of talent, passion and innovation
  • to provide a fun, easy environment in which to meet and share ideas with our customers, our partners and ourselves

What Do We Need From You?

To succeed, GeekFest needs the engaged, sincere participation of all our stakeholders.

T4G Business Units, Teams, Task Groups, Vertical Markets and Cost Centres
GeekFest is a tremendous opportunity to showcase your service offering and demonstrate your value proposition to internal and external audiences. You will do this through a very brief presentation in the GeekFest auditorium and by manning a booth on the trade show floor.

Bring your A-Game. GeekFest is a fun event, but it’s also a marketplace of ideas. Those that are better, and better presented, will stand out.

T4G Employees
All T4G Employees are encouraged to come and to participate. Do you have a pet project, a new idea, some software or a prototype you would like to show off? This is your chance to present it to a friendly, receptive audience. Get it out there and get some feedback. It might be the next big thing.

If you’re not doing your own thing, talk with your team leader about how you can help with the booth or the presentation.

And finally, just come. This is a chance to get to know your co-workers better and meet some of T4G’s friends.

Come have some fun with us. Enjoy the chance to meet the T4G folks working for you in a relaxed setting and get a better sense of who we are as a company and as individuals. Bring your ideas and feedback. Tell us what looks great and tell us what doesn’t.

Sounds fun, but what exactly is it?

OK. It’s basically four things.

  1. In the GeekFest auditorium there will be a set of presentations and demos. These will be delivered by T4G teams and businesses, individual T4G employees with special projects they would like to pitch, and any intrepid friends of T4G interested in presenting their ideas to the GeekFest crowd. All presentations will be subject to some “liberating constraints” to keep things interesting. Details and logistics will be provided to all presenters.
  2. On the trade-show floor, you will be able to talk in more depth with the teams and individuals that presented. Each will setup and man a booth where they can explain their presentations in more depth and give hands-on demos.
  3. GeekFest is a forum for the comparision and evaluation of these ideas. Attendees will be asked to help us with the judging.
  4. In the lounge you can just relax, have something to eat and drink, and enjoy a chance to meet some people and network a bit.
