Beta
One of the principles of Web 2.0 software development is to develop and release *something* quickly. They call these early test releases “beta”. Web apps like Flickr, del.icio.us, and many of Google’s offerings appear to be in in this state perpetually. The thinking is that a new idea is better off “out there”: being used, getting broken, and generating feedback. Ideas left too long in planning, always with the goal of getting it just right, often die from lost momentum and morale. Those that eventually do get released quickly discover that much time was wasted on features nobody really wanted.
So in this spirit we are launching a public beta of T4G’s GeekFest, and you are invited.
It’s a new idea. It’s a work in progress. And it might not quite be ready. But we want to invite our employees, our families, and our friends to come test it for us and provide us with some feedback.
